Ladies – Men – Mixed – Junior

The Race

Due to the speed and change in tidal direction we experience on the River Severn by Clevedon, The Ladies/Mens race may be on a different course from the Mixed race. The Juniors race will be held in Clevedon Bay away from the strongest part of the tide.

All races will be undertaken with the view of safe return with the tide towards Clevedon Slipway and main beach. We do have stringent limits on safe launch and recovery (Westerly component up to and over 15mph and the race will be called off). Clevedon will be making a race call on the Thursday evening dependant on how the forecast is looking and advise via our FB page and direct to registered clubs.

Mens, Ladies & Mixed Races : 3.1 Miles / 5KM
Juniors / Novice Race: 1 Mile / 1.6KM

Coxes’ briefing: 14:30hrs
Launch By: 15:00hrs
Racing Starts: 15:15hrs
High Tide: 6m at 17:35hrs
Cost: £8 / person

Important Notes

For safety reasons Clevedon Coastal Rowing Club reserves the right to cancel the race at any time
All boats must be registered at the registration desk
On the water coxes are to always wear lifejackets
Clevedon will assist in recovering boats from the water and onto the slipway, from the slipway to the trailer is the visiting club’s responsibility. Clevedon have two dollies; it would be advantageous for visiting clubs to bring a dolly if they have one.
Visiting clubs to also bring Frenchmen or large Fenders in case weather dictates a change to launch/recovery protocol, or for resting of boats on beach if not required for every race.
Clevedon has a rocky beach with hidden stone. If you want to beach your boat in between races, please liaise with a Clevedon coastal rower before doing so for advice on best place to beach.
Radios will be used, Channel M1 or M2 (Advised on the day, 1037 or P4 for older or ICOM based radios)
