WSR Lifejacket Policy Information

Lifejackets MUST be worn on the water by;
•     Coxswains
•     Juniors (11-18 years inclusive)
•     Non Swimmers (a person unable to swim 50 metres unaided)
•     The whole crew when NIGHT ROWING
•     If requested to do so by the Cox
•     If deemed necessary by event organisers
•     If deemed necessary on medical grounds

However, WSR minimum requirements are that ALL crew members must;
•     Have access to a well-maintained lifejacket
•     Be correctly fitting
•     Be within arm’s reach when on the water

Please note the above policy was voted on by the WSR Executive committee on Monday 6th March 2023 and a unanimous result was returned.

Suitable footwear

Please use suitable footwear for rowing in longboats.
•     Wellies are not considered suitable footwear whilst rowing.

Dryrobes 

In accordance with British Rowing Safety Alert March 2022 rowers and coxes must NOT wear a Dryrobe when afloat.
