MYC Porthmadog – Madog Dash

MYC ROWING, Porthmadog MADOG DASH INFORMATION
Date – Saturday, 11th May 2024

Times – High Tide details for Porthmadog: 11:18 at 4.77m

  • Registration – closes PROMPT at 915am. Forms pre-filled would be gratefully appreciated, either on the day, or sent electronically to rowrotaman@gmail.com.
    If you can let us know by Wednesday, 8th May if you be attending
  • Safety briefing – 930am. COXES ONLY PLEASE.
  • On the water to start – 945am. At Harbour entrance to start by 10am.TIMING NEEDS TO BE PROMPT AS WE NEED TO GET OVER THE BAR AND TO THE FARWAY BUOY AT HIGH TIDE
    Address – Madoc Yacht Club, Pencei, Porthmadog, Gwynedd. LL49 9AT
    Location – Madoc Yacht Club & Harbour, Porthmadog.
  • Launching the boats from the slipway in Porthmadog harbour, and making your way oneby-one around the Pontoon to the start.
    Please take care of the moored boats and other watercraft on the water
    · Start – timed start. Order given on the day
    · Finish – on the beach in Pwllheli
    · Once everyone is back, please head up the beach to the trailers before heading back to Porthmadog.
  • Course: From the start line, we are heading out to the Fairway Buoy and making our way across the bay to Pwllheli.
    Course could be adjusted depending on weather conditions.
  • Food & refreshments back at Madoc Yacht Club on our return
  • Boats: Celtic Longboats. Crews of Ladies, Men or Mixed.
    · Open to Coastal Sculls (weather dependant)
  • CREWS WILL NEED
    · Radios – able to go to Channel 77
    · Mobile numbers to be given at registration
    · Lifejackets – worn by coxes, and be available in the boats for the crew
    · Throwline
  • Additional notes:
    * Cost – £8.00 each per participant
    * Tea & coffee will be available before hand, with some food.
    * Parking
    · Cars – there is limited spaces at the Yacht Club car park but there are council parking facilities nearby.
    IF YOU PROVIDE YOUR REGISTRATIONS, WE WILL PUT THEM IN THE SYSTEM FOR THE DAY
    · Celtics & trailers can be kept on the green, by the slip.
    * Changing facilities available at the Yacht Club

The Yacht Club is open all day, so everyone is more than welcome to stay for a drink or two afterwards.
If you would like names of camping or B&B options, please let us know when you confirm you are attending.
