The Pengwern Boat Club - Shropshire Adventure Rowing Club

Event Details:

Race Day information.

2 stage time trial on the River Severn, Open to Celtic & Pembroke longboats .

Teifi skiffs or Other fixed seat tubs may apply – Coxes can swap. No passengers.

Trophies for the following Categories / Classes as follows:-

Seniors / fastest boat – Ladies – Mixed – Vets – Supervets – Pembroke – Teifi.

First stage – 8 mile time trial upstream on the River Severn from Pengwern Rowing club in the centre of Shrewsbury to finish at the most northerly point of The Severn “North Pole”. Then a downstream 2 mile rest row to stage 2 start line.

Second stage – 6 mile time trial downstream back into Shrewsbury to finish at the Pengwern.

Stage times will be combined to determine Trophy winners.

The race start & finish venue is The Pengwern Boat Club, Kingsland, Shrewsbury, Shropshire SY3 7BD. Pre-race breakfast rolls & hot drinks for sale / post-race food, bar, male & female changing and shower facilities are available.

Race fee is £10 per person ( £50.00 per longboat ) which includes Post race food.

It is quite some time since we have had the chance to welcome our Welsh sea rowing friends to Shrewsbury. We have prepared the following information to tempt you all into making the most of the weekend.

Friday Evening arrivals.

We will look forward to meeting any of you planning to stay over on Friday at The Armoury on the river (https://www.brunningandprice.co.uk/armoury/ for a drink and chat from 6pm. All are welcome to join – let us know if this might interest you to make sure we reserve enough space.

We can provide parking for boats & trailers at Pengwern on Friday & Saturday nights. Oars can be stored securely in the Penwern Boat store – Please let us know in advance.

Saturday post race.

Following on from the race food & Presentation, we hope you can stay into the evening for further social, & we will provide full bar, fab DJ & food.
