#FiveMilesFromHome – OVERALL RESULTS & Presentation Video

#5MilesFromHome OVERALL TIMES

The Overall Times are based on your best two results from the Series. This means that those who needed to change their entry during a lockdown, will still be included in the Overall Times.

It is our pleasure to acknowledge the achievement of certain crews and participants in particular and we invite you to watch our Special Awards 2021 video below. Those mentioned in the video will receive a Special Awards Certificate recognising their accomplishment.

Congratulations to everyone involved!

A message from the organisers

It’s been some time now since the last leg of the Five Miles From Home series and we hope everyone has had a good summer with plenty of time on the water.

We had planned to be in touch sooner than now with an official wrap up but hey – sometimes life, work, IT acrobatics (read more on that below) holidays and rowing trips get in the way and you suddenly find yourself a couple of months down the line.

Nonetheless, and on behalf of all the organisers in Scotland, Wales and Ireland I would like to extend a big huge thanks for taking part this year. With over 1,600 participants across four continents, we had an absolute blast and hope you did too.

#5milesfromhome 2022?

On the back of this year’s success, we are thinking of organising another Five Miles From Home challenge next year. Maybe a Series, maybe a single event? We’d love it if you could complete our Participant Survey and let us know what would work for you.

2021 Overall Times & Special Recognitions

We always wanted to publish the overall times but this bit required some serious IT acrobatics (who knew how hard it is to merge three different results lists with hundreds of times to figure out the top 2 results from 3 lists)… but after many weeks I think we did it!

Special Awards

It is our pleasure to acknowledge the achievement of certain crews and participants in particular and we invite you to watch our Special Awards 2021 video. Those mentioned in the video will receive a Special Awards Certificate recognising their accomplishment.

Certificates of Participation:

If merging all the results needed IT acrobatics then the generation of hundreds of Certificates needed complete IT wizardry – but thankfully, we managed it with the kind help of David in Scotland. Over the next week you will all receive an email from our specially coded email-bot called ”Congratulations on completing 2021 Five Miles From Home”. This email will contain your own PDF Certificate of Participation. If you would like it edited, for the whole team or in a JPEG, do let us know.

2022 Dates:

Finally, with vaccines now widely available, we are expecting to bring back our physical events next year and we’d love to see you there!

– Ocean to City – An Rás Mór, Ireland, Saturday 4th June 2022 (join the mailing list and we’ll let you know when entry opens)
– Castle to Crane, Scotland, 3rd September 2022 (follow here for news)
– Welsh Sea Rowing; dates to be confirmed (follow here for news)
– Five Miles From Home 2022: To be confirmed (don’t forget to do our survey!)

Whether it is in person or online, we look forward to seeing you again next year!

Until then, best wishes and have a good winter.

Warm regards,

Joya (Ocean to City), Robbie (Castle to Crane) & Richard (Welsh Sea Rowing)
