5 Miles From Home 2023 – MEDIAN TROPHY

As you know, the premier award for 5 Miles From Home Challenge is the MEDIAN TROPHY.
We are delighted to announce that the perpetual Median Trophy for the Main Challenge is awarded to ‘Need for Speed’ from the Forfar Skiffies in Scotland. Their row in a St Ayles Skiff involved ‘A wild morning, wind speeds up to 30MPH and waves on a normally flat Loch. The team was made of of 5 RPs form the club so we pushed on and made it just over the hour. Great effort in testing conditions.’

WELL DONE!

5MFH WILL RETURN IN 2024 – But in the meantime please put the following date in your calendars!

Invitation: Ocean to City – An Rás Mór, Ireland

Saturday 8th of June 2024 in Cork Harbour

Ocean to City is Ireland’s largest multi-craft rowing and paddling race for participants who love a long-distance challenge. The event’s welcoming and high-quality reputation brings rowers and paddlers from across the world to celebrate all that Cork has to offer both on and off the water. Next year’s Ocean to City is a very special one, our 20th anniversary, and we are going bigger and better than ever!

This all-inclusive rowing event brings together everything from traditional wooden working boats, gigs, skiffs, sloeps, lifeboats, longboats, cutters and currachs, to kayaks, canoes, ocean sliding-seat boats and SUPs. Ocean to City appeals to every level of competitor: For those looking to test themselves, those competing for our much coveted prizes or those that are looking for some fun and camaraderie, it’s a great day out. The race has three course distances to choose from, 7nm, 12nm and 15nm – all finishing to a jubilant welcome in Cork’s city centre.

Registration opens in February 2024 and early bird entry fees, accommodation and ferry offers will be available. Ocean to City is the flagship event of the annual Cork Harbour Festival, so there will be lots to see and do around the race.  Join our mailing list and we’ll keep you updated http://eepurl.com/cE2lSP . We look forward to seeing you next summer! https://oceantocity.com/
