Taking up indoor rowing is really easy, just join a gym or rowing club with access to rowing machines and get started. A coach or gym instructor will be able to show you how to use the machine and achieve your goals.
Check out the Welsh Rowing dedicated Indoor Rowing page for more information.
Indoor rowing is available to anyone of any age ability or fitness level. Indoor rowing machines come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are typically found in rowing clubs, schools and gyms. Using the indoor rowing machine can use the majority of the body’s muscles to give a thorough workout whilst being non weight bearing. Indoor rowing machines can also be adapted with fixed seats, frames to replace the slide or even provide audio commentary via apps accommodating for a wide variety of people with disabilities. Indoor rowing can be great for staying in shape, developing fitness, and performance across a variety of sports or even for competing at indoor rowing events. It doesn’t always have to be on your own, as it can be a great group activity either with friends achieving targets together or as part of a crew class.
