I have heard on the grapevine of an incident in which a rower was apparently trapped under a capsized boat as a result of being in the water with an automatically-inflating “lifejacket”. I understand that Hannah Lodder in her capacity as WSR Health & Safety Officer has expressed an opinion on a possible solution to this “issue”. Might I enquire as to where I might see any history of this subject, in my capacity as H & S Officer for Sion Cwilt Rowing Club, New Quay. For several years, as an active member of the WSR community, I have sought to engage others in the discussion of lifejackets, buoyancy aids, wearing and carrying of the former, and the range of opinions on what is appropriate for sea rowing around the coasts of Wales.
